got 365 bench today

Strong guys here... I have done 315 for 5 before quite a few times, but usually work with 275 for sets of 8-10.....I train alone so I get nervous with the real heavy stuff.

I dont have a spotter either so it does get scary I go up slowly and dont try more than i think i can get for 1, but i do have the bar come down adn stay every once in a while. all i do is rest it on my chest and ask ppl in the gym to slide weights off or pull it off me if there bigger guys. One time i just dumped it on the ground, thats always a trip one side goes and boom there goes the other and nothing you can do to stop it hehe:).

As do I for the most part. I'm done with the heavy stuff. I'm too old and too little to try and keep pushing that stuff around. Mens Health here I come :D

Never could figure out why someone would think that 275 for reps of 8 was lite hehe:). thats a ton more than your body weight. I have always considered a guy who can bench properly 2 plates 225 for more than 5 reps strong. and any thing above 405 is just freaky to me even when i watch a man do it I try to figure out how he aint much bigger than me and i am sure its not his muscle must be he is insane on good stuff, and has hugely think tendons. Its like that arm wrestler from the 80's who ppl would not want to go against because he was braking arms... now how could he have his arm wrestling muscle able to flex that fast where he snaps a bone? now thats freaking shit.

my buddy i lifted with for a year or so always thought it had something to to with tendon insertion...he was always much bigger than i put i always smoked him on lifts especially bench...oh well..it doenst matter i would rather be bigger haha

I've been getting 405 (on supervised bench) for some time now, but only 2-3 times can I achieve that. Nothing too impressive, just thought I would throw that out there...

Your modest, thats a killer bench in my eyes, my goal is for 10-20 reps with 405 before i hit 50 years old. I hope i get to at least the 10 rep mark.

I have same goal. I want my 405 to be the middle of the road bench. After a warm up and a few heavies, I then want to hit 405 for 8-10, then move up to about 425 and 450 if I can make that high....

...One guy at my gym hits 405 for 10 as his last two sets...pretty big boy!!

where are you at your goal now? if we are close maybe we should make it a contest between you and me for motivation?
I am jumping from 3 plates for 3-6 on a bad or good day, then going to 345-365 for 1 rep on my best day. Before my operation I got 395 for 2 reps.... Let make the contest from what ever we are getting now if there close to one another, to 3 reps with 4 plates, rules are perfect press can just touch or go 1/4" above the cheat not touching, and then back up no arching of back no cheating. Shirts off or tank top thin, so we cant cheat with a vest, we film it, and post it up when we get there. Winner LOL I mean loser has to buy the winner 1 jug of cheap protein powder, or no prize haha:).

you guys are doing some heavy stuff, it is a good high when ya hit that 300lb mark and beyond ain't it? my best flat bench was 345 when i was in my mid 30's and i was training naturally. for the last 10 yrs i have not done anything that i would consider heavy for me, now when i bench i just put a 100lb plate on each side of the bar and call it good for reps. ya gotta go with the flow as the body ages. :(

I'm down....bro. But let me know if we are close in your eyes...I don't want it to lop-sided...I want it about even...

I can get 405 (not perfect [touch chest], as you are describing, but pretty close) around 3-4 right now on a shitty day and on a good day I could get atleast 5.

You tell me man...this is how I normally bench:

1. 135 -10
2. 225 - 8
3. 315 - 6-8
4. 405 - 3-5

yes

yes and 395 for 2 reps not to long ago, so I should gain up fast, operations you know take a lot out of you, the atrophy from having your limb imobalised is just fucked up. What I dont understand is how it can go away so fast but come back so slow, dont make sense to me.
