I was pulling and hunting with a 45 recurved at 10... got an 85 at 13, but that bitch was always hard on my hand. I like my cross bow now its a 150lbs horton.

My advice would be to check locally for a used one. I was looking for my boy for a little while but he seemed to lose interest, so I stopped. We checked on new ones and you can plan on spending $300 plus for the set up. I found a couple like new ones locally for around $100 (with everything) but they go fast so I missed them both.

My wife has a Hoyt i think you spell it, and it drops down to 40lbs has and easy draw, and its a compound bow very nice bow, she dont miss with it ever since the new site and release trigger.

I switched over to a cross bow 2, mine is a parker,I love it ,but I miss my real bow so in the next couple of day I am going to buy a parker compound bow for my nehpew I think it will go from 65 to 85 pounds.that way I still get to use a compound bow some times.

i would but they are expensive. I am looking at one on ebay that is slightly used. DEpends on what it goes for. ALso, that sight THL posted is a pretty good deal. Trying to stay under 300 total which is tough. Really tough actually b/c the accessories can kick your ass..... It is for his bday. his mom is chipping in 100, my mom will do 100 or more i am sure.

Only a few states left though thick thats its illegal in, I can hunt wild pigs here in FLa dear what ever i want with my cross bow, and it has a laser dot site thing rocks I can also get a inferred night scope at I think 30 optical view what ever that means, but the thing is like 1500 bucks lol, the bow only cost 500. Also in some of them states that its illegal in you can get a special permit because 1 handy caped old age and some other reasons, some times you might have to bring it to a board of the state, like for me I have a hand thats crippled so I cant hold a string for a bow (main reason i switched to cross bow from bow), and they have to allow me to, or i just brake out the old 33 winchester. Ebay is a good place to find a nice bow, here is some tips for buying any thing like a bow on Ebay, make sure its a buy it now item, most buy it now stores have good reps and test the bows and items out, you can get a cracked bow from a privet seller selling only a few items a year, most of the big stores are real stores in a building like a pawn shop and what not. If you have a pawn shop in your area there is another idea. it was illegal here in ala till about 3 years ago.only thing about useing it it does not make you see more deer so to me it's just like shooting a compound.the parker I am geting is about 315$ because the shop is haveing a sale on last years bows cause he got new one's in.
