Can you explain on why eating so few hours apart - that is something I have a problem with as well - I will go like 4-5 hours without eating while cutting. Yes, I know it's bad - but sometimes I can't help it at work - however, let me know what you would suggest!

Thanks,

hello my friend,
let me start by saying that i am sure there are other people on this board that are more qualified to explain it more in depth than i am, but i will explain the reason I eat every two hours...

i am a fairly simple minded person so i like to keep everything as simple as possible, and my nutrition schedule is no different...

i personally think that keeping a positive nitrogen balance is of the up most importance for my body while i am in the cutting phase of my diet... in order for me to accomplish this and not over eat i like to keep my nutrition proportions small but very frequent!!!i feel that it allows my body thermostat to keep the heat on hight, and the fat melting process in full go mode...

i have a very small bone and body structure so i cant afford to loose any muscle during this process, and the only way i can assure that is to keep my body full of food and water...

also, when i say i eat every two hours please remember that i ingest small portions that are weighted and prepared in advance... i have a horrendously slow metabolism, and i have to be careful to not over indulge... :D

example: 20/30 grams of protien and 10/20 grams of carbs every two hours

obviously there is more to it than the example, but i am only showing an example for a two hour feed session... i try and eat anywhere from 8/10 times a day, and of course i adjust meas for adding my micros...

not sure if any of this makes since, but it seems to work for me... :)

No that's an awesome stratedgy man. I too am small (5'10ish) so I know what you mean during cutting - when I cut I shring to the little-est possible (or so I feel) and my previous cutting has been where I hardly eat anything, more like 3-4 times a day, however, 1-2 of those are meal replacement portein shakes...

...Very interesting to think about, as I am going to cut here soon (awwww, cardio, yuck!) and I think I will try this for something new! What do you suggest when you eat (which is weighed and what-not) your portions. Since of course, slow metabolism is hard to achieve (I know, when I drink and eat mexican food, it's with me for daysssssssssssssss) what could WE eat brotha?!?!

hey 7 & 7 my friend,
i am glad to see that my typed jibberish above was somewhat legible... lol ... even though everyones body needs greatly very i think most peeps will agree that eating 3 or 4 times a day for a weight lifter is no where near enough, especially if you toss in cardio on top of your daily activitys... imho ...

as far as what i eat when weighting out and figuring up my grams per, i keep this simple also...

"i eat absolutely no dairy when cutting under any cirumstances and i don't count protein shakes into my daily numbers count!!!"

protein:
  • chicken
  • LEAN cuts of beef
  • salmon
  • turkwy
  • egg whites and i mena tons of them daily :)

carbs:
  • sweet potatoes
  • oatmeal
  • dried beans of all kinds cooked in crock pot...
  • etc...

fats:
  • almonds
  • liquid flax oil
  • extra virgin oilve oil
  • etc...

since my metabolism is slow as christmas and i work out & do cardio at 4 am, i cut off all carbs when cutting by 12 pm everyday... also, when i throw in my flax oil i make sure i have no carbs with the meal...

as far as weighting out the food and figuring grams per meal, i think that is an individual thing... i personally like to consume anywhere from 4 to 6 oz of meat every meal and 10/20 grams of carbs per feed...

please remember that i am 40 years old, and have the genetics of a 10 year old girl... roflmbo ... sad but true...

unfortunately i have come to grips with reality and realize that i will nevr have a huge physic, but with constant tweaking and hard work i can maintain and very athletic looking body...

You have an awesome plan. Whether you are 40 or 25 you seem to got everything to plan. And I like that. You know, I could use someone like you by my side all the time, telling me when to eat or train and what not - it's been so hard with work and everything to comprehend anything else!!

Few questions, though:

-No dairy - as in???? (cheese, milk, etc...)
-What about avacado's? Good fat to still eat? I love those things...
-Beans...as in??? (black, or green or what? LOL)

Thanks man, you have been a help!!

7 & 7,
thanks for the compliments about the plan... unfortunately i have to plan everything in advance, or i want do anything... i think i am lazy by nature...;)

dairy:
no cheese, milk, cottage cheese etc... when cutting makes me loose my definition...

avocados:
are one of my favorite foods... i indulge these when i am cutting or bulking... my wife makes homemade avocado dip for me when i am not cutting that will curl your toes, besides avocados are very healthy...

beans:
not sure what everyone calls each kind of bean, but i buy all my beans dry from the fresh food market and boil them... black, red, pinto beans etc...

hope that helps...

That's hard man - I mean freakin' hard. No milk, cheese, cottage cheese, etc....that's hard for me, as I LOVE milk and use it for protein shakes all the time....Hmmmmm, here comes water :(

I know avacados are good for you, but I was wondering what you thought about with cutting? I mean even while bulking I still think they are the best thing around! And my girl makes a mean dip too ;) We should trade and see what each other thinks!!

Man, this is going to be hard - I need a diary here and your help...along with everyone else!!! :D

Simple strategy brother! Eat NEVER TO GET FULL AND NEVER BE HUNGRY. This is a good moto to go by. Your metabolism will be in constant motion and you will store less foods as fat and burn more and really keep that motor running. Timing is VERY IMPORTANT!

GOOD INFO ABOVE SSSC!:)
