Not as much motivation

Last Winter when I started dieting I went from 240@15-16% down to 205@5-6%...I was super motivated to get this done...Now I'm 220 in the single digits{maybe 10%} and I'm having a damn hard time "wanting" to do this....Now I'm still sticking to the diet, but for some reason I do not have the "desire" to do it that I had then.

I also am eating more as well as I don't have nearly as much to lose, but it seems if I'm not crazy, starving to death hungry, then I don't think that I'm dieting real hard...What the fuck is wrong with me ???

Calories as of right now:
250 carbs
300 grams of protein
20 grams of fat

Roughly 2400 cals...Now Mutant, Package, Elite, and VT all said that I more than likely should be eating more carbs at this point....Maybe 300 ??? For some reason I do not think I can get lean enough doing that ?

Am I mentally retarded or something ???...LMAO

You're not motivated because you're dieting for no reason. If you would pick a show to do, and diet for the show, that will motivate you. You'll have something to aim for, that's all I can say. I sound like a broken record.

I know that but I'm just saying when you have a huge goal ahead of you that you're working for, it gets you very motivated and focused. Not saying you NEED the show to get focused but thought I'd throw it out there since you always talk about doing one. Ya dig !?!?

Another thing, part of the reason may be because you're already lean as fuck so its not like you're a big fat slob and are dying to get ripped. Ya know what I mean ?

More carbs? Let's try more fat! You absolutely had to have made a typo there, but 7.5% of your calories from fat is bad.

I don't have the motivation either anymore, as is evidenced by my poderous girth, and I haven't for YEARS! Maybe it's just not that important to you now. Maybe you have things that supercede vanity in importance. You know, like a family and shit. ;)

That all sounds really good about it not being as important now and all, but by the way him and I talk and the way HE talks about this game, I can really see and feel his passion for it that he still has. Now, I may be wrong, but I think he still has the drive in him and wants to get in top top shape and be onstage holding a trophy. Maybe then this will all wind down for him, but until then, he needs to accomplish that. Again this is just what I get from him.

That could be. Seems to care greatly. I had forgotten about the competition aspect, which then, as you pointed out, is what's necessary to excel - Get on stage, MU, you lardass! :p

Seriously, let's face it, dieting to competition shape for no reason other than to do it is pretty hard.

Indeed it is...However I can do it. I'm looking for some out of state shows in August to get my feet wet...Also I have a very complicated home life so just entering a show is sometimes not as easy as you might think.

Elite give me about 2 inches of your arms and I'll get in one...LMAO

I would agree with you but after working some with MU on his diet I'll have to disagree. I want you to look at a few people and I'll explain their methods and why I think MU will have better luck with higher carbs and moderate protein and lower fats.

Check out prepbyalex.com --- seriously, go look at this dude and how shredded he gets. His diet is COMPLETELY carb/protein and fats are only incidental. He eats upwards of 400 carbs/day and gets that shredded.

Check out Chris Fox. Look how shredded he gets. Same type of diet, worked with Alex. Hell, just check out Alex's clients.

Fats are great to diet with since there is little insulin response and I understand the whole thing. I did the keto and low carb and carb cycling etc for my last contest and lost a ton of muscle and was never able to fill out til a week after my contest.

If you are in a caloric defecit and when you are carrying the muscle mass MU is you need the available energy to function. He will be burning his carbs but at the same type keeping his glycogen stores full and able to push through his workouts.

As long as he is hitting his cardio, increasing his fat burners, and keeping full and then decrease some carbs towards the end, there is NO reason he can not come in ripped.

When we were working with his diet he did not respond to adding fats. We were adding tbs after tbs of PB, Almond Butter, and Olive/Mac oil. He just wouldnt respond. We went back to replacing fats with higher carbs and boom, he started to gain. His body was able to utilize carbs better as fuel to grow and he was staying fuller.

Just my two cents but I'm willing to be a higher carb/moderate protein diet will be good for him, at least to start with then make adjustments later.

Oh, and here is a pic of Alex A on his high carb/mod protein diet.

Remember, carbs are protein sparing so the more carbs you consume the less protein you need in your diet.

Oh, I'm not a propenent of the keto diet, though I am making a run with it at the moment. But that's just for rapid weightloss, primarily the bloat I have.

I just also know that fat is essential for life. There are EFA's and essential proteins, but no such thing for carbs. Basically, I just don't think going much lower than 15% is a good idea.

I can run with that and I think that 15% could and probably should be obtained with eating red meats (grass fed for higher CLA content), omega 3 eggs, and some fish for other omega 3's. This can all be achieved while keeping carbs high and no ADDED fats which is basically all I was saying. No need for tbs after tbs of oil or peanut butter haha.

PS, the keto is one hell of a way to get rid of stubborn fat, thats for sure!

Yeah I'm getting some fats from lean ground beef and lean turkey meat...I'm also still eating 2 tbsp of Almond Butter at night...I have been hungry as of late so I know the calorie reduction is already working...Just got to give it time so I can see the changes I want...I can get impatient, and when getting that way I have to watch as I want to eat 1500 calories a day and get lean quick...LOL

Oh, ok, so it was a typo when you said 20g fat/day then? I mean, I don't even see how that's possible, honestly. 20 oz of tuna has about 10 grams of fat as far as I know and only 140g protein, so.....

Well, I supposed you could eat nothign but shrimp and stay below 20g's but that's unrealistic. ;)

What I meant was I'm not adding any fat other than the 2 tbsp on Almond butter at night...Hard to get around the trace fat found in red and lean turkey meat...My body does not seem to like fat very much as a fuel source it seems.

Last year you were a fatso, you dieted very well , you got a good look from it, that's over. I was really impressed, and you know what, you didn't waste my fucking time like 95% of those asswipes next door. I see some serious potential in you and you could be a pretty damn good bodybuilder, its really you stopping you. Do you want to be a bodybuilder, ask yourself that, if you do , then you gotta be an EVEN BETTER DIETER THAN BEFORE. And this isn't MU just getting in shape and muscular, this is getting ripped up, hard, and muscular, contest ready. That means motivated, in your diet and training!, forget the fucking drugs, thats the easy part. Gotta get your mind into it brother!
