Holy hell I'm weak.

Ok I'm always on and off as far as deads go and as of the last 3 weeks I have been doing them EOW...So week before last I was just getting back into it and did this.

135-10
225-10
315-10

Today I did this

135-10
225-10
315-10
365-6

That last set felt heavy as shit !!! Should I be approaching this a bit different or is my lack of strength just do to the fact that I have not been consistent with dead after the last couple years or so ?

I know Phreezer and Shaq can help me, and please chime in and point my ass in the right direction.

Also does chalk make that big of a difference in grip ? I have never used any....and I always feel like the bar is slipping once I get past 315. Straps don't really help me.

Shit, if I could build muscle lifting a 5 lb dumbell, I would be more than happy.

Yea man, chalk does help , i like it cause it sorta creates a grip between my skin which sweats and the bar, i feel much less slipping and better control.

It's your rep scheme. You don't need to do deads for sets of 10's. I never do deads for more than 5's certainly never more than 8. And these carry over for Body builders as well as Powerlifters and strongmen.

Try this

135-8
225-5
315-5
365-3
405-2
425-1

And then just edge up from there until you find your ceiling

Let's say you can pull 445 for a single. Then Go like this

135-8
225-5
315-5
365-3
425-2
445-1

Do this for three or four weeks - deload and when you start your new training cycle over add 5-10lbs to everything. Within a year or so you'll be pulling 600lbs..

also, I'd really need to see a video of you pulling for one of your 5 rep sets to get an idea on how your form is..

Also phreezer as far as form I use about a shoulder with stance, and a sumo grip, also about shoulder width as well.
