fear of sleeping wow. i have a fear of not getting enoff sleep.

that must suck.
Sounds like me! I could sleep 20 hours per day. In fact, right now, I'm struggling with going back to bed or going to the gym...sleep sounds better, but then I'd be kicking myself later...

Restless nights

This is a serious problem you have. Your family history points to a psychological basis for the problem but you have to make sure you are medically sound before we make that diagnosis. Sleeping pills, pain pills etc. are only a TEMPORARY fix to the problem. They may help you sleep but they are masking the underlying problem. Based on your initial post I am most concerned about a eletrolyte imbalance. Unfortunately, this one is more complex then a simple quote be me. You need a medical evaluation first and then referral to a specialist in sleep disorders if it comes back negative. Lack of sleep like this can have detrimental effects in the long term. Send me a private email if you have other details that would help. Don't delay in getting help for this. Please.

Okay. Here goes. Let me tell you what I tell all my patients who tell me they are "too busy" and need a quick fix for their problems. (At least that's what I gather from your message). If you don't take care of yourself you cant take care of your family or anybody else. You have a serious problem the causes of which are endless from electrolyte imbalances, withdrawal to major medical problems and psychiatric disorders. This situation is WAY beyond the help you are going to get from people on this board, me included. However, it does seem like the multiple events going on in your life are exacerbating the problem. But stress is just an easy answer and an excuse. I will tell you what you need. You need to take some time and see a doctor my friend. Have him do some baseline bloodwork and then a referral to a sleep specialist is indicated. If you continue to get such little sleep the long term affects on your body can be detrimental. Pills are ALWAYS a temporary fix. You can try the "alternative" therapy suggested earlier but doubtful it will work in your situation.
