im wondering how one would know if he had an enlarged liver. obviously a doctor would know, but how? are you showing any symptoms of liver toxicity or anything?

there could be 100 reasons why your liver is enlarged. I would def consult your phyician and make sure he tests for everything. For example Hep C and 100 other variables.

If you went to the dr, surely he gave you a reason or ran tests?

Enlarged liver

Previous posts are right. There are numerous causes of an enlarged liver. Did your doctor run liver enzymes? If so what were the numbers. In the context of an enlarged liver you need to have these tests. If he has not run an ALT/AST, bilirubin etc. then i would request these be done along with more routine blood work (ie. CBC). The number one culprit of an enlared liver is obvious on this posting board. My question is how did he make that determination. Did you get a CT scan? Did he palpate? Or was the comment the result of the blood test. I wouldn't be worried until you had the numbers. However, enlarged livers or hepatomegaly are nothing to take lightly.

Liver

In the early stages liver damage (enlargement) is reversible. It is the repeated assault that could get you into trouble. Avoid excessive alcohol while on a cycle. Your liver has to work hard enough. Take liver protectants. Drinking makes the protectants worthless. PLEASE be careful with this one. Easy on the booze and Tylenol.

BigMD this is off topic but if you did have blood work done for a CBC Differential liver test would toxins such as AAS and others show up to your Dr. from the test?

Liver Supps

Lot of BS out there on the liver supplements. Remember that the liver is what allows you to get over a hangover, come down from a high and mobilize fats. U need to keep it healthy during cycles. I have a core few that are a must....

Glutathione (this one is huge!) major detox molecule in the liver, most studied biochemically. Used this on ICU patients in my residency for alcohol poisioning, overdose etc.

SAMe- same as above but not as a large player

NAC- same as SAMe

B and A vitamins.

The Hepadetox thing doesnt look bad. If you use it I would add some glutathione to your pills. Green tea is a good antioxidant but you get a better effect from a multivitamin. It doesn't look like its worth the price unless you like to have just a few pills to take. I hardly ever by these combo pills b/c i can't seem to find the right amounts of what i feel is best (see above). You will read alot of testimonials. Proceed with caution on these. None have ever really been clinically tested. I like the above because I've used them on sick patients and I know they work.

Blood test

AAS will not show up on CBC. It won't even show up on the urine unless specifically checked. It could cause a shift in your WBC count (white blood cell count) thought but this is very non specific.

Thx Doc, I also do agree with what you said about multivitamins over all the new herbal sups. IMO the placebo effect can make just about anything feal like it is working if you believe in it strong enough.
