MK,
Did not want to impose on Elevens thread especially considering the nature of it. 2800 mile trip on the bike, that should be fun. Longest I've gone is 2200. Through Mexico, one of the best experiences of my life I think. What are you riding? Rigid? j/k

Mexico uh?
I have done Mexico too.
Went down to Guadalajara, then towards Mazatlan.
Mountains from mazatlan to Durango was amazing.
Torreon, monteray then up to Laredo

This trip is rather boring when it comes to the ride.
Leaving Texas and going to Orlando.
My best friend is flying in then he will rent a bike there.
We will ride the east side of Florida down to Key West.
Then do the west side of Florida up to Ft. Myers then back to Orlando.
It will be around 2600 to 2800 I think.

I ride an 05 Harley Davidson FLHT.

You?

Thats a good mexico ride. Your ride Im sure will end up being a lot of fun no matter where you are riding. Hope to be on a long one soon as well, but with my new business (almost a year old now) I dont have nearly as much time to take off for riding. But I typically ride about 10-12K a year. I ride an 06 streetglide, my first Harley I still have, its a softail springer. Im a freak about bikes (Harelys that is). My first bike was a 72 BMW toaster tank /5, then I had a 68 BSA shooting star road racer, then a 59 Triumph bobber. I grew up around Harleys with my parents and went for the british bikes, thinking I did not want to be like all the "yuppies" out there, then my cousin talked me into renting a Harley. Got back, sold the other bikes I had, bought my first Harley.

I ride as much as I can but we had a kid a year ago so its not been much lately.

I really like the FLHT, I would not mind having an 08 Ultra.
The 6 gallon tank, 6 speed tranny and larger motor would be nice.
I would probably get it with ABS too.

Where are you located?

I am really looking forward too it.
The guy I am meeting has been my best friend for 24 years or so.
I only get to see him every 3 years or so.

It will be a laid back trip.

Im on the West Coast. I have a Screamin Eagle 6 speed on my streetglide with a 113" motor. The 6 speed is really nice, it actually is a true overdrive 6 speed, where from my understanding the 6 speeds they use in all the bikes stock is not. I have two daughters, young, so I definately limits my riding. I just end up riding to work most days.

sounds like some nice trips, Ive been around the state of AZ about 7-800 miles doing the Laughlin trip in 06. did Sturgis 06 but bike was in the back of my truck plus I was pulling my camper so that dont count.
BTW you guys can always hi-jack my threads if its about Harleys or bowhunting (I had a 06 Dyna superglide custom, looking at the 08 Fat Bob or Fat Boy)...............11

Ive been to Laughlin a bunch of times, it gets to be kind of the same thing for me and since I dont drink or party, end up hangin with the wife in a casino breathing other peoples smoke. We skipped it this year. I worked in AZ for almost 2 years. Leased a house in Chandler, then moved up to Payson, since thats where we were working mostly. That 08 Fatbob is looking pretty good.

Laughlin was fun but I wouldn't make it a regular trip. We were going to Sturgis again this yr but you know what happened there. I was going with the Fat Boy but saw the new Fat Bob online and its alot like my bike but with the fat front tire so it caught my eye. My bike shop has one coming in soon as a rental so I think Im going to take it out for a day and see if I like it, Plus it will be the 1st time Ive road since the wreck so Ill know if Im ready or not........11
