I've broke something..

I've been training through some pretty severe shoulder pain the last few weeks, and it looks like I may have broken something. The acromio-clavicular joint in my left shoulder is atleast sprained, class 2 and may be ruptured with Class 3. If its ruptured, it'll take surgery to repair it. My shoulder on this side is sticking up a good 1" taller than the same joint on the left.

This is a complete drag and will really put a kink in my plans this year.

Anyone ever have this injury before ?

for your sake i hope it's just a sprain Quasi, i'm just dealing with arthritis in the shoulders, and have to take a little break for a week or two. (shoulders are a bit inflamed at the moment) i wish you the best.

Thanks man. Good luck with your own shoulder as well. It sure does put a damper on your training when the shoulder is jigged.

Ouch!

I never had anything like that, mostly low back.

You might want to try DMSO applied locally. It's not a cure-all, but it will deaden the pain locally and supposedly will help to soften tendons and ligaments so their not so "strained." I use it regularly on my elbows and forearms to quell the pain on arm day from chronic tendonitis.

Best of luck,

I have had total recon on my right shoulder and the left one had rotator cuff surgery. If you have any questions or whatever hit me up. Good luck though, I know how much a pain they can be. It effect everything from lifting to putting a shirt on..etc etc

Update : According to my Doc, the shoulder held together, just sprained badly. No torn ligaments. The CC was completely intact , and there was no evidence of trauma at all.

Sprained AC, CC itself is fine.

Currently using a battery of Indomethacin , ~ 200mg per day and that is helping allot.

Feels pretty good as of yesterday. I trained shoulders without any pain, but the press exercises for chest are still touch and go. I'm going on vacation Saturday afternoon, and by the time I get back I'm hoping it'll be healed up.

yes

Yes in fact mine was so bad they could not repair it, so they took out my ac joint and 1/3 of my collar bone, if they ask you to go this routs don't! as they told me I would not lose any strength in my shoulder, but not only did I lose strength the shoulder muscle is shaped wrong now as well.

both shoulders within a 2 year period.
takes a while o heal since the ligament in very small and has limited blood flow to it.
expect some arhritis when you get older is what I was told
