goddamn impulsivity!

The chickie and I were at the local bike shop to pick up something for my bike and the chickie, who knows nothing about bikes, points to a sportbike and says: "I love that one". Of all of the bikes she sees, she picks out a 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa...$11,500. Even though I have a perfectly fine bike, I'm seriously contemplating buying it. Always wanted a busa, fuckers move! I don't know if I want to pay for a years insurance and payments when I can only ride 5 months out of the year.

Someone please talk some sense into me;)

My buddy just sold his bobber, he had the 96" shovel S&S motor. I think they make a Panhead motor also.
Swede is a fool if he dont build his own bike for around 11-12 k and then if he wants to sell it get at least 15k, esp. with this being summer time.

But he is a goddamn foreigner so this advice will fall on deaf ears.;)

I'm right there with you on a custom bike but unless you've built a few, it could be a pain in the ass, no? If I could find a custom in the area, already built, I'd be game...nothing fancy, no shiny chrome all over the place;just a loud, rigid 1950's style.

I actually have a buddy about 30 miles away who does powder coating..I could get everything coated for the cost of supplies. It's def. something I've been thinking about. I just go back and forth between wanting a Harley and wanting a sportbike that goes 180 mph;)

Get a Harley and build up the engine. My Streetglide has a 113" motor in it, I've done 120 with plenty left. It just gets a little sketchy at 120 compared to a sportbike. Check out ebay for the local customs. Just dont get some obnoxious chromed bike or you will be considered a "chromosexual". :D

True unless you get some help from a gear head. Your can get parts when you can aford them like... Rolling Monoglide (softtail) chassie rear end, 230 series w/ wide glide front end and back wheel for around $1,300 , S&S "mother fucker of invention" 113 motor for around 3,295 , with overnight shipping and a tranny. 6- speed if you got the big bucks. But big motor should have a big trany. You would actual have money left over for labor if a must.

After you get all your parts (and it dont have to be all at once) since you already have a bike. You could own a mother fucker thats already custom for YOU, no more extras needed unless you wanted a springer front end or something. Think about it...

You have to respect the builders of their own bike. I think that shit rocks.
The young guy with too much hair product on a low end and yet extremely LOUD custom tells the world just how small his dick really is.

It would be scary if I did ride a custom...christ, if I rode a moped, the chicks would be hounding me;)

I've been giving it some thought and as of right now, I'm leaning towards getting a custom built bike. On thing about living up here, there are a ton of custom bikes built and for sale. None of the fancy 30,000over the top chromed shit...I want a rigid, no frills, load bike with a tall set of ape hangers. I've seen a few nearby on ebay...I'll hopefully get a chance to check them out this w/e.

Swede,
Rigids look cool, but softails look like rigids and are way more comfortable. I rode through mexico with my 2 cousins and for about 800 of the 2200 miles I lost the air in my air suspension. My back was killing me. Put some serious though into that, it may make a big difference for you.

I've seen some smoking deals here in Texas. As far as I can tell the dealers are no longer getting sticker for their Harleys. Maybe the economy combined with the lessoning of the Harley frenzy applies to all bikes, not sure. My dad and I halfed a Harley and should have sold it a couple years ago when the market was hot, plus my old man thinks the bike is worth twice what it is:rolleyes: . Check this out: http://s233.photobucket.com/albums/ee157/harleycaferacer/

I wish I still had the balls to ride. I get the itch every now and then but with a new baby, I have no life. Personally, i'd see what's available in the used market.

Ive had 16's on a bike before and my 12.5's work a lot better for me. But it depends on your reach and how you sit on the bike. Im 6'1" with a long ass reach and the 12.5's work great. Oh, and they either need to stand straight up or pushed forward a little. No apes pulled back, big big no no.
