Carb Cycling, Carb Cut-Offs, Etc.

What Do You Guys Do With Your Carbs, I'd Like To Hear Some Input From Different People.

I Have Been Doing A CKD For About 5 Months, Lost Alot Of Fat But Some Muscle Too.

My Question, Is I See Some Guys Go Down To Zero Carbs From The Very First Day Of The Diet, Like I Did.

Then Other Guys Start Rotating Thier Carbs On Some Sort Of Pattern, And Even This Varies Wildy.

Then, Some Guys Just Start Taking Carbs Out A Little At A Time Every Few Days Or Weeks, Little By Little, For The Duration Of the Diet.

Others Have Rules About Not Eating Carbs At Certain Times During The day, or After A Certain Time At Night, This Doesn't Apply To A CKD Obviously, As Your Not Eating ANY Carbs.

What Do You Guys Do, And Why?

Indeed, a very interesting topic..

I have been keeping my carbs extremely low around 10-20g a day (just coming from Natural PB) for the past 5 days and I have never experienced fat loss at this rate and I was already around 6ish% bf when I started this. My weight dropped from 205lbs(rebound from a show, so I was holding water) to 193lbs in just 5 days. I look the dryest I have EVER looked right now. Eating nothing but Fish, Chicken, Romaine Lett, and Natty PB---One shake PWO.

I have seen good results with just keeping my carbs around the 200g range and not cycling them at all in the past.

This is all a game of trial and error but TB, staying in a Keto state for too long can put in a very catabolic state...I think in your case, e3days bring your carbs to 300grams and then drop to 100g and then to virtually nothing. Give that a try bc it makes no sense to lose quality, hard earned muscle mass during such a long dieting period. Slow and gradual fat loss.. I may contradict myself by what i'm doing right now but I am 2wks out from a show and plan on getting as lean as my body will allow me to in that period and if I sacrifice a little muscle for sick conditioning then I'm willing to pay that price. I would never sacrifice the muscle during months of dieting though, if that makes sense.

The Philosophy of Vince Gironda, The Iron Guru and BodyBuilding Poineer

Low Carbohydrate Eating

From Atkins right up to the Anabolic Diet and Bodyopus, this type of dieting has hit the bodybuilding mainstream in the past 10 to 15 years. However, few know that it was actually Gironda who popularized this approach to pre-contest dieting.

He called this type of diet his "Maximum Definition Diet." It consisted of eating only fats and protein for three to four days straight, followed by one day where you include one large carbohydrate-containing meal and then repeat the cycle.

This diet was so effective that Gironda himself probably lost some contests because he was considered "too ripped" compared to the standards of the time (which favored a smoother, rounder look).

Eventually, his dietary approach to maximum definition became the diet of choice of several champions, from Larry Scott to Arnold to Dave Draper and other stars of the time. Back then it was simply called the "meat and eggs diet."

I've used it. It works, but is not for the faint of heart. By the third or fouth day, you are seriously dragging ass. I found that on the "no carb" days, I needed at least 30 grams as a bump to keep me going.

Like most things in bodybuilding, the really good result-getters are very difficult.

Ok, so....

One way of carb cycling could be ;
1 day 400g carbs, the next day 200, next day 100, then next day none ?
Am i correct ? And then repeat ?

Or, is it 300, 100, then nothing ?

Now, what exactly will this do...and how often would you perform these cycles ?

To be honest Elite...There really is no right or wrong way to do it. The best advice I can give is to TRY IT! Everyone reacts differently to carbs and fats. Try it for 2-3wks...The more you change things the up the better you will learn how your body reacts to certain diet changes. I will say one thing though, the body reacts the best when you periodically change it up.

from what i understand it goes 300, 100, 0. you are tricking the body into staying close to a state of ketosis but not allowing it to last long enough in ketosis to use your hard earned muscle for fuel. this makes more sense to me than the anabolic diet or ckd diet. i agree that waiting 7-10 days like they suggest MAY be too long to not lose hard earned muscle. someone else please clarify this if i am misunderstanding the idea behind this. wd

Alot Of Guys Will Follow The Carb Cycling For The Duration While Lowering The Amounts In Each Phase, For Example:

If You Started Doing 300/100/0 Then You Might After A Few Weeks Start Doing 175/ 75/ 0, Etc.
