Aldactone Dosaging...

Opinions only from those that have actually used Aldactone.

If you were to use Aldactone for contest prep, what dosages and what protocol would you follow days before the event?

Please be as detailed as possible.

Thank you all for your input.

I used lasix with it and had some great results...I believe that I was doing 20mg aldactone and 20mg lasix ed. Don't quote me on the dosage but I split the blue pill in half and took it twice a day...I started on Wednesday night for a Saturday show and started the lasix Friday morning.

Thank J2d...the aldactone I have is 100mg by Pfizer. I was thinking of starting 50mg tonight and then 50mg ED until the day. What do you think?

I believe mine were 40mg a pop so I would have been doing 40mg ed with 20mg of lasix...Sorry if my numbers were off before, I had a brain fart but now I remmeber my dosages. 50 should work fine bro, the aldactone is potassium loaded so don't overdo it on a potassium supp!

Yes, great point! Don't supplement with potassium. The amount in a multivitamin is OK, but do not add any more potassium while on aldactone.

Cool, I love my banana a day with my protein.

Potatoes I don't have to worry about because I don't like them, LOL.

Well, things are moving along and now I have to figure what I am going to eat Saturday afternoon and evening to carb up...any suggestions?

A banana is OK. I guess what I meant was don't buy potassium gluconate tablets and eat them like tic-tac's..lol!! The potassium sparing effect of the aldactone should keep enough potassium in your system to prevent cramping while posing.

Carb loading never worked for me. The few times I did it, I ended up smooth as hell at the prejudging and placed probably 2-3 places lower than I should have. A guy turned me on to "fat loading" This works great for me...really hardens things up. Not too healthy though as a good portion of the fats are saturated.

I actually knew a state level BB'er that carb loaded by eating 100 lbs of white potatoes in the week before his show!!! Here is a picture of the guy.

Dammmmmmmmm that's a lot of potatoes.

I can tell you when I eat a lot of carbs I get very vascular, something that I am not by nature.

Tell me about this fat loading and do you think I should carb or fat load?

Well, if you have carb loaded in the past with success, I would not change a thing right now. BTW...when is your show?

Fat Loading: I start loading on Thursday at noon if the prejudging is at noon on Saturday. The plan is to eat small, high fat snacks every 2 hours while you are awake. Typically, these snacks would be selected from the list below and I would pick two (2) and eat them as the small snack

1/4 Avacado
2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter
3 ounces of fatty ground turkey or beef
2 soft boiled eggs - Yolks Only
2 tablespoons of flax oil
Handful of cashews

Because your stomach is so shrunk from precontest dieting, just eating two (2) selections from the above list really fills you up and keep you going until the next two (2) hour snack.

Sweet advice.

No, no, no, I don't have a show...I'm just doing a photo shoot to see where I'm at but I want to do a dry run as if I was doing a show, you know what I mean. Why wait until an actual show to find out what you need or don't need. I'm not in competition condition but pretty close to it and that's why I want to do a shoot. It's really nothing special, like I said it's more for me to experiment and see what works and what doesn't for the future when it's the real thing. I've seen too many people doing this and that at the last minute because they don't know how their body will react and then come in looking like shit when I knew they could have done so much better.

I like your fat idea anyway and beleive it or not, my biggest fat loss has been the result of cutting back on my carbs and increasing my fat intake by using avocado, peanut butter, etc....

Carbs always make me gain weight really easy so I have to be very careful since I have a very delicate balance. They make me strong like an ox but then I put on weight too dam fast.

Man, I give you a lot of credit!!! The "dry run" strategy is the only way to do it! You are exactly right...it gives you a chance to see what works and what doesn't.

It's really refreshing to hear from a BB'er that actually has a strategy and doesn't just throw things together at the last minute and hope they work.

Hat's off GRB!!

Thanks for your kind words TenMan but I've always beleived in this strategy.

For instance, the first time I did anything, I did one compound at a time so I would know exactly how would I feel or what could I expect. Yes call me anal but you know what, I know exactly what works for me and how much I need to use to get what I need and that's from experimenting. Now, I would have never been able to do that if I experimented with a bunch of compounds, how would I know what did what.

Anyhow, the objective here with what I'm doing is to do a dry run as if I was doing a show but not full bore to get down to 2 or 3% BF. Right now I am about 7% and am pretty lean but I want to know how dieretics work on my and what I would need to do to get the water out and to stay full, hard, and vascular and not dry out like most people. So, there is a show in May that I'm going to shoot for and from now until then I want to do about two or three dry runs with different stuff to see what gives me the best results.

So, what ever you suggest throw it at me because I'm going to be building a database and a plan to do each time until I find what will give me the best results. Look at it this way, I even went and got sprayed tanned today and had trunks tailored to me at my current weight, just as I would do if I was doing the show so I'm not playing any games, this is serious for me and I'm doing it because I want to come home with a trophy and not becasue there were only four guys in the class and I got one...I want the competition and I want it to be brutal and I want to win fair and square......
