couples things, start shaving, right away, your feet are too far apart when you pose, bring them in and so your heels are only a couple inches away from each other. Ok, , not sure why your doing no carbs and tons of cardio, i don't like that at all. However, you are lean, bf is low, and i see lines forming, espcially in your quads and your abs look like they are there, but holding water, which is ok , you can get that out later. Are you running a keto diet? lets see a week of it

2 hours and 10 minutes of cardio everyday !? Wow, thats a lot !

Youre coming along, but I agree with everything Pack said above...i also do not like the no carbs and tons of cardio approach. IMO, It looks like you could still be taking in carbs and not doing as much cardio and see better results.

Oh, and take off the damn sweater ! :p

thanks for the posing tips, I'll definitely start doing that.

as for the zero carb and cardio situation i am just doing what my trainer is instructing me. he just won the overall at the NPC Central states (http://www.rxmuscle.com/rxgallery.php?contest=60&year=57&bodybuilder=3768)

he worked with palumbo directly for the last few weeks of his prep. he got in the sickest condition as you can see in the pics above and he is incorporating the same techniques with me. i realize i will be no where near that condition but hell i paid him so im going to listen to him ha.

as for the cardio, its all very low intensity under 120bpm. so basically i wake up and walk at a low incline for an hour and a half. not too catabolic but im sure it is to a degree. either way i just want to come in conditioned and i think my trainer will do his best to get me there.

Palumbo has a good program, no doubt. Very unlikely i'd ever do it though, i just don't think i would feel "good" if there is such a thing for contest prep, lol i have to have carbs, , how bout writing out a couple days of diet? ok so your walking for cardio, that makes more sense:cool:

Well I certainly agree that I don't "feel good" at all right now, especially when trying to push through a workout ha. My weights have all dropped off to a degree but 30 minutes into my workout, thats when the drop off really occurs. Just nothing to push through with I guess.

Diet I can't really get into much detail, wouldn't be too fair for those of us paying but I'll just drop a few ideas.

Right now its based obviously all on moderate protein and fats, no carbs. One day will be an added fat day so I'll include with some lean meats a couple TBS of PB or Almond butter. One meal I add some walnut/olive oil along with some lean ground beef. Couple egg meals etc.

Thats followed with 2 days (currently) of just very protein/veggie meals. Around 50 grams protein each and 2 meals with 1 cup of broccoli...these two days REALLLLLLY suck!

Looking better....Now is crunch time and I'm sure you will do great. I got really lean using a diet that consist of 300grams of protein, 160 carbs per day, and almost zero fat...Also was doing cardio 4 times per week at 30min each session...Following this for 8-10 weeks got me tore up...Went from 240 plus down to 203-205.

This is whats so neat about BBing IMO...There is so many different ways to approach it, and none of them are the "wrong" way.

This is crunch time for sure. Things are starting to get really tough on me when taking into consideration the length of cardio, being tired from the low carbs, now being tired from the low fat days as well, plus training, plus work and work travel etc. I have to cook all my food on Sundays and pack it with me when I travel which is also a pain in the ass!

I have NEVER had cravings like I have been the past few days. I normally have only craved something like pancakes or a hamburger now EVERYTHING I look at I am dying to eat...shit I was looking at oatmeal yesterday in my closet thinking how much I'd kill to have a bowl of oats lol.

Anyway, also I agree so much about approaching dieting in different ways. I have never cut without carbs before and I can say that the fat loss is pretty damn fast and this is definitely an effective method. What I would have liked to have done however was diet longer, keep carbs in, and do less cardio...ease into it more I guess. Shelby seems to like the quick fire approach. We made major changes in diet and large increases in cardio where as most seem to take longer and make smaller adjustments. Either way I am learning a lot and I'll push through til the end. Hopefully some serious changes are going to be made over the next 18-19 days!

well if you just wanted it laid out like that then my current macro's are:

P/F day: 50 grams protein X 6 meals = approx 300 grams
15 - 20 grams of added fats (PB, EVOO, etc) X 6 meals = approx 90-120 grams

P/Veggie day = 300 grams protein over 6 meals + 2 cups total veggies for the day :D

currently doing 1 P/F day followed by two P/Veggie days

Well you look good but with 3wks to go and no carbs you are going to be very flat, your going to be lean for sure but muscles needs carbs to stay full looking. And IMO thats way to much cardio for a man plus your doing it 1st thing AM when your body is screaming for nutrition after sleep. I bet your burning more muscle than you realize.
I would never do a diet like that as a BB'er
Now you have good symmetry and size so I think you might do well..........11

Thats why we are carbing up some the last couple days ;)

Thanks for your concerns too with the diet approach, not being rude but I think that Justin Harris and Dave Palumbo are a little more knowledgeable in the field of contest prep than you guys are giving them credit for. Everything I have done to date has been one of those two methods. Justin Harris has a carb cycling approach and Dave Palumbo the keto approach I have switched to for the last 5 weeks. All I can do is listen to my trainer and hope I come in my best. I appreciate all of your insight and thoughts tho and keep it coming!

I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm not disputing that Dave Palumbo isn't a great prep guy, try this keto diet and see if works for you. thats the key, it works for you. However There is no way anyone could talk me into dropping carbs, how do you get your glycogen refilled? through fats,? fat as an energy source without carbs?, that makes no sense, last minute you have to jam tons of carbs, hopeing to rebound, thats too risky for me. And don't take this as a flame or anything, i really do hope this works in your favor, and you do great at your show:cool:

Well my thing is this...

I paid for a great contest prep guy and now I am 3 weeks out with him. I started off carb cycling until 5 weeks out. I loved the carbs and especially the high carb day bc that always helped me push through the week. Anyway, well this guys has worked with some great prep guys along the way and knows how to get absolutely shredded. I have seen his clients, they are always shredded. This is my first contest and I wanted to use someone I could trust and would put me in a good position to at least come in and look like I belong on stage.

I know you guys obviously don't believe in the keto...I fucking hate it to. I hate the damn excessive cardio, and I reallllllly hate the protein only days, and I fucking REALLLLLLY HATE not having any energy at all in the gym to lift. Hell I despise the gym now when I walk in bc it's not enjoyable at all when you are tired 24/7.

So I ask this...what the hell was I suppose to do? Was I suppose to tell my trainer to change it back from keto to carb cycling even though he knows whats best for me and he knows the best way to get me lean and stage ready? I mean all I am doing is what he has told me to do. I relay that here and it gets shit on (between the high carb day and now the keto and cardio). In all honesty I just want this competition to be over so I can get back to a somewhat normal lifestyle and eat and gain some size.

I guess what I am trying to say is I really appreciate your guys thoughts and such but shitting on the diet and cardio isn't going to do anything. I realize you dont agree with the approach but I am paying someone else to do all this for me and I trust him, I have no choice but to do so right? I mean I am a no body in bodybuilding and never will have the chance to make it in any big competitions so I could care less if I am a little flat or a little glycogen depleted or whatever. I just wanted to fill you all in on the progress and what my diet and cardio and training has been to date etc. I can't do anything else but what he tells me to bc I won't fuck it up for myself after all the money and hard work and dedication I have put in.

I'll keep posting up pics and such and diet changes and you guys can chime in all you want but regardless of what your thoughts are on the matter, it's not me making the decisions.

Thanks elite. I completely understand and I want opinions, I just hate feeling like what I am doing isn't right....the mind games of this if you will. I look forward to seeing how I come out of this and I am counting down the days until I am sitting down at IHOP with a big steak omelet and a huge stack of those nut and grain pancakes....MMMMMM :D

I am definitely sticking with the way things are. I sent some updated progress info today and we are bumping up T3 to 87.5mcg ED and Clen to 100mg ED, cardio now 140min ED. No diet change. Depending on progress over the next 4-5 days we may bump down cardio some...which I am desperately praying for haha.
