I rotate shifts D, I work them all.
Evening shift can be good or bad.
The Bad -
As TenMan mentioned, if you have kids it sucks - no way around it.(Which you don't I know from what you've said before, but still worth mentioning)
If your relationship with your woman is insecure in any way, this shift will push it over the edge as you will be paranoid to the max that your woman may be messing around on you as she has all the time in the world to do so.
If you are a regular watcher, you will probably give up TV altogether. Anything worth watching is usually on in the evening, daytime TV sucks, even with cable.
The Good -
90% of shiftwork has the opportunity to promote or gain seniority and bid off to another shift. So basically you may start on evenings, but may not be there forever.
If the new job turns out to be horrible, you have all day to still put out applications and do interviews, major bonus on this one.
Plenty of time to pay bills, go by the bank, run errands, and you can workout whenever you wake up.
Most female domestic engineers shower @ 9 or 10am, some with the windows open in the bathroom thinking everyone is at work. Ok, maybe this is just my neighborhood, but be warned this could fall under bad depending on which neighbor you spot out the window.
Just my 2¢ sir, but I'd say take it for now, and keep applying for what you really want.
