Compared toooooooooooooooooo..................being unemployed?
1- True.
2- Finish your work out in the morning.
3- No need to hear your wife bitching at you.
4- Great excuse to work late, hit the strip clubs after work:p

HairyGrizz did I miss anything :D

I loved working 2nd shift, but I was single at the time. Get off in plenty of time to hit the bars, then sleep till 1 pm, get back up and do it again.

It sucks if you have kids cause you end up missing a lot of stuff they have going on after school.

My advice is to take the job. This economy is truely scary right now. Hey, it may lead into a day shift job or some other higher paying position down the line.

You can suck it up...continue to look for a day job while you're working this one. With 3 - 11 hours, you have all morning to go on any interviews.

Good luck!!

Second shift turned me into a drunk when I was younger.

Just stick to the straight and narrow and you'll be fine.

Well said. Worked 2nd (3-11) for a couple yrs a long time ago. I knew a bunch of people yeah including myself that would hit it til about 2-3 in the morning then sleep in and start all over.

It's a job man, take it! Just maintain is all...

I rotate shifts D, I work them all.

Evening shift can be good or bad.

The Bad -

As TenMan mentioned, if you have kids it sucks - no way around it.(Which you don't I know from what you've said before, but still worth mentioning)

If your relationship with your woman is insecure in any way, this shift will push it over the edge as you will be paranoid to the max that your woman may be messing around on you as she has all the time in the world to do so.

If you are a regular watcher, you will probably give up TV altogether. Anything worth watching is usually on in the evening, daytime TV sucks, even with cable.

The Good -

90% of shiftwork has the opportunity to promote or gain seniority and bid off to another shift. So basically you may start on evenings, but may not be there forever.

If the new job turns out to be horrible, you have all day to still put out applications and do interviews, major bonus on this one.

Plenty of time to pay bills, go by the bank, run errands, and you can workout whenever you wake up.

Most female domestic engineers shower @ 9 or 10am, some with the windows open in the bathroom thinking everyone is at work. Ok, maybe this is just my neighborhood, but be warned this could fall under bad depending on which neighbor you spot out the window.

Just my 2¢ sir, but I'd say take it for now, and keep applying for what you really want.

Any Money > No Money

It worked great for me years ago, go to bed around midnight or 1am, Id go to the gym about 9am for a couple hours then go home and take a nap for an hour or two. And if you still go out on friday nights you can still Dance the night away at your favorite Disco tech..

ok guys.....i took the 2nd shift job. i start monday. its $3.00 more dollars more an hour than i was making before! thats cool. but i`m gonna have to learn alot.
they train you. its basicly a machine machanic. a cough drop factory. halls and sucrets.
i`m machanicly inclined, but i don`t know nothing about these machines.
they are pheumatic. they say they`ll train you,but if you`re not geting it.......you`re not getting it.
i`ve never had a problem, but i`m a little worried i`m not gonna get it. or pick it up. maybe i`m just nervous.

i wanted to thank every one for the support and positive advice. sometimes i guess i need that to keep me going.

especially.....JUANEYE and STEVE MILLER for the pms,job offers and advice.
