Question on antibiotic's

Hello Doc, have a question for you. Which antibiotic list below are the best to have on hand. Also are they for the same cause? I was thinking their for the same thing, just some are stronger then the other's? thanks

Cefuroxime Axetil, 500mg
Doxycycline, 100mg
Erythromycin, 500mg
Tetracycline, 250mg


P.s. Im have taking Cefuroxime (Ceftin) before for a cold and worked great.Can it do the same for a infection?.

Antibiotics are like cars (and women for that matter) they all are designed to do the same thing (kill bacteria) but they all do it in different ways. The main thing is the side effects. Doxy has nasty GI side effects in some people. The others are not great with respect to coverage. I would pick erythromycin of the ones listed. Doxy is good if you get a tick bite (good for killing Lyme).
