Question for the Doc

Ok Doc I was born with Bi-Lateral Undescended Testicles...It was not corrected until I was 6 years old. This has made me sterile and I'm currently on Dr. Prescribed HRT. My right Testicle Is primarly scar tissue and now I have found several lumps in my left one. Is this common ??? I brought it up to my Doc and he was not concerned. He said that I probably had and overwhelming amount of scar tissue down there due to my nuts being cooked for the first 6 years of my life. I would like to get your opinion on this....I know I run a higher chance of getting testicular cancer than most and it has been a concern of mine for years.

Thanks

First MU you should definitely be doing regular testicular exams because what is important is the CHANGE in the bumps over time. If these are new bumps or changing then you would definitely want to get, at the very least, an ultrasound to explore this further. You will be the one mainly responsible for bringing these things to the attention of a competent physician. If you have not been doing regular exams then get a testicular ultrasound ASAP to put your mind at ease and then start doing weekly exams.

Thanks DOC.....Will get on this asap. The lumps I have had have been the same way for a good long while but I noticed a little growth on one of them. Do you think most of this is mainly scar tissue ??? Some lumps I have had since I was roughly 15 and I'm now 33{almost 34}...I went to a urologist years back and he told me that it was nothing to worry about and that if it had been cancer it would have killed me by now...LOL

Are my chances even higher than most guys with this condition considering it was taken care of so late in life ??? I hear most cases are taken care of within 6 week-6 months of birth. I have never even heard of a case where someone had to wait as long as I did....I also had mumps fall on me down there shorlty after.

chances are only slightly higher due to the late diagnosis and treatment. Scar tissue should not grow so its unclear what it is which is why you need the test. could be some venous growth which is benign but you need to be sure.

Would I just go to a urologist for this ??? or just a general doc ???

Also I have talked with my Dr and I am planning on getting Testicular Ultrasounds soon, and PSA's done at least once every six months.

Well all is well right now...Getting a sonogram done soon. How much will that cost me out of pocket with no insurance ? I have been doing tons of research on cryptorchidism and with both being undescended, fertility is ALWAYS an issue...Not to mention the mumps as well{I had shortly afterwards}. So for the first time in my life I am actually dealing with the fact that spawning children of my own is simply not gonna happen.

I pretty much have always knew that, but now its really just hit me. I met a member on OLM who was born with double cryptorchidism as well and he said he was unable to have kids and was on HRT as well.

Talking with people who have the same issues really helps.

How is everything?

Ultrasounds are relatively inexpensive. Depends on part of the country but around $100-150 then the radiologist interpretation is around $75. Expensive? Yes. But piece of mind is important especially when you tell me about bumps that weren't there before. HUGE red flag. Doesn't mean you have something but means is HAS to be checked. I am a big fan of forums for people with particular medical conditions.
