Knee problems
Ok here is a brief history on the trouble i have with both knees. Fist off I am flat footed and where i have no arch support my knees has adsorbed most of the shock. I am also knock kneed where my legs bow inward and has cause a total of 6 knee dislocations, 3 to each knee.
Now i have to wear knee braces to keep my knees from popping out of socket but when i carry heavy weight the are useless. The last old MRI report i had said I had lateral subluxation on both knee's. The ortho wanted to do a scope but i went and seen a few other ortho they said it may help but where more than likely only scar tissue is what holding them in place that removing it could worsen the problem. Also if i did have cartridge removed and then knees go back into socket that the dislocations have more than likely destroyed the cartridge and i will need knee replacements. In there words the scope would hurt more than it helps.
My knees are still bothering me and i got my second report back and it does not sound that bad but my home Dr said i will need to have the scope done so they can get a look under the patella to really see what condition they are in.
The report says, Findings: Redemonstration or the supeior of the patella relative to the femoral groove with lateral subluxation. This is essentially unchanged since previous exam. No effusion or osteochondral defect is seen. No meniscal tear is seen. No bone marrow edema or significant effusion is seen.
Impression: Mild lateral subluxation, essentially unchanged. No ligament disruption or meniscal tear seen.
It seems the last report read worse than this one and i know my knee's are shot because every time i get to a certian point of weight they start poping and cracking with sharp pains that feal like there about to dislocate on me.
My question is should I go ahead and have it scoped like my ortho wants to do and risk the chance of screwing it up to where i may need total knee replacements or should I just be satisfied with my braced chicken legs and wait till i cant tolerate the pain anymore or it wont stay in socket at all till i have surgery done? I have seen one knee specialist that says there is a bone deformity in my legs that is rare and will require a special surgery to fix before i can get a replacement done.
Edit: What the knee specialist told me was "I could scope it and happily take your money but its not gona fix the problem you have." Thats why i didnt get the scope done years ago.
Any advice would help at this point and time...thx in advance.
