I am getting a Dog!!!!

I was not going to do it this winter but I gave in and I am getting a dog!!! I am picking her up on Thursday before the kids get out of school...She will be a year old and she is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. The best part is I don't have to house train her YAY lol...

I was going to get one from the MSPCA but they only dogs they had were not to good with kids or cats and I have both of those lol...so that would not have been to good and this dog I only have to pay $100 for!!!

why would you get a pit bull when you have young kids? seems to me there is a reason these people are getting rid of a year old dog, not to mention since you just bought a house you better check with your insurance company to see if there is a clause about owning such a breed. many insurance companies will drop you if a home owner has certain breeds of dogs.

FYI, pit bulls and staffordshire terriers are legally different dogs. But, I call mine a staffordshire all the time so people don't get freaked out. Also, I raised my dog around young kids with no problems at all. It's all about the owner.

I have had a pit bull in the past and he was one of the best dog I ever had...and I would have kept him if my land lord had not made me get rid of him....

The dog a.k.a Lily....has been around kids the couple has 4 kids ages 18 down to 2 and she is execellent with the kids...The reason they are getting rid of her is because the owner has very bad asthma and the doctor told her that she needed to get rid of the dog...She is also having to get rid of her two cats....

 that's what every pit bull owner says right after it ripped a kids face off. that breed of dog is just another reason to carry my .45.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Just like any dog out there...it's all the way the owner treats it. Also, if you like to stereotype dogs like that...what else do you stereotype?

Here's a great article to read...

http://hubpages.com/hub/Dog-Attacks-and-Aggression

"What's sad is that, statistically speaking, the American Pit Bull Terrier is the least likely dog breed to bite, and the Cocker Spaniel is the most likely dog breed to attack"
^^^this is just a little excerpt from it...
that may be, but when the pit bull bites they rip little kids faces off, if the kid survives at all. but i know, they're just nice little doggies!

sweets, love your dog everyday, i almost lost mine the other night
I am so sorry !

The thing that is going to be the biggest problem right now is getting her not to think the cats are smaller dogs and they want to play with her... She is so cute...

And just so Juaneye knows I called my insurance company before I even thought about getting a dog so I would know what was on the restricted list...Because the kind of dog I wanted before I found Lily is actually not legal to have in some states...and I know this is going to sound stupid but I wasn't sure if they were legal to have in Mass or not...and if you are wondering I wanted to get a wolf hyberd...I had one a long time ago and she was one of the best dogs I ever had and she loved my boys....Anyways, Lily is not one of the dogs on the restricted list...

I attached a pic so you could all see her...I love her even if she and the cats don't like eachother just yet lol...

dude, get over your self, you have a very dangerous animal for a pet and you know it, the beast's are a time bomb waiting to go off. make all the juvenile excuses you want to justify your actions, it makes no shit deal to me what you do. for me, if some assholes pit bull ever goes after one of my kids i WILL kill the beast and do great bodily harm to the moron that would own such a useless creature. hey! maybe you own it because you are a drug dealer and need it to protect your stash, or you have a small penis and having a big bad animal for a pet makes up for your lack of man hood. again i think the lady should double check the fine print in her home owners insurance, so as not to possibly leave her self and her children financially unprotected.

Okay I announce me getting a dog because I was excited about getting her...I did not tell everyone I was getting a dog to get someone elses opinion on the dog I was getting....Yes I am a mother and I live alone with my two children...I have also had my home broken into in the past not once but 3 times by a bunch of little punks...the first time I was in the house asleep in the next room and woke up to the asshole standing in my living room!!! I am not a drug dealer and I do not have a penis there for size does not matter....what matters is that I feel the dog is what is going to work for my family...and as stated before she was raised around children...the youngest two....She is an extremely well behaved dog...The only down fall is that her and my cats do not get along right now...

As stated before...I was on the phone with the insurance company for almost an hour and I was on the web site checking the breds of what was on the restricted list...They have German Shepards on the list which I find really crazy....I have many friends who have AmStaffs and they have kids and they have had no problems with the dogs with their kids...

for sure we all need to protect our selves. you are from the sticks from what i have read in you past posts, are you familiar with firearms? if not, look in to the NRA, they have fire arm programs for women, and they are taught by women. what ever choice you make to protect your self and your children, i wish you the best in your decisions.

Its okay I understand that opinions are like assholes everyone has one and they are not the same....

Just so you know Juaneye....I grew up in a town called East Bethel, Maine...it is in the woods literally. Being from the woods I know all about guns how to shoot one, how to clean one hell I could probably take one apart if I had to. My first gun was my grandfathers 30-30 and it is older then me.... When I moved from Maine to Lowell, Ma I chose to leave my guns in Maine because at the time it was going to be to much of a hassel to get a gun permit in Ma when I was not yet a resident.

I choose to have a dog. I also choose to leave my guns in Maine at my parents house for the time being. Now that I am a home owner I will probably bring them down here along with a few other things I have left there. As my father would say, sometimes it is better to be prepared for anything....And believe me IF I had to I could easily put a big fat whole in someones ass or else where....

I do agree that pitbulls are great dogs and they do get a bad rap. But, it really isnt always about the owner. Some people think that a dog will always turn out fine if you train them right. Thats not true. Think of it this way, each breed has certain traits that in their history has made them what they are good at....like working, herding, etc. If not carefully bred with temperment in mind, those character traits can become problems. Many of the bully breeds do have problems regardless of the owner. With that said, I will probably never own anything but the "bully" breeds....mastiffs, rotts, etc.
