Getting Motivated Again

I know this topic has been beat into the ground but here goes. I was scheduled to do several shows this past fall but I got married, turned 30 and was not able to give it the 110% needed. I talked to my trainer and he knew it was going to be tough and was very understanding. Now i have moved and am still working with him but I now I have the thinking of out of sight out of mind. I can't just drive in to see him and all that stuff where you are accountable in person. We have discussed it and plan on doing the shows fall of '08. My question is how do you regain that drive where nothing means more than wokring out and getting it done. Just looking for what helps people when they start to fall off the wagon. Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any responses.

Much respect to you sir for competing. I acknowledge up front that you guys who can get into competition shape have superior discipline, for real.

I'm a lifelong endomorph who humps his ephedrine box from time to time to avoid the Homer Simpson blubber test syndrome. We have some guys on here who can help ya tho. They will chime in for ya I'm sure. Best of luck with your goals man.

Hey brother, congrads on the marriage...Life happens sometimes and causes us to fall off the wagon (temporarily). The idea is to get back to training NO MATTER WHAT and cook all your meals for the week and tupper-ware them. This will give you a kick start and when you get through the first week things should start to get easier. The true drive for me is SEEING RESULTS...One week back in the gym with a strict diet and I'm already seeing my body transform... And once that ball starts rolling down hill, the momentum of your gains will fuel your desire and motivation to keep doing what you do...I also but a pic of when I was a skinny little twirp on my fridge and a contest pic right next to it...That's something that motivates me, is seeing how much I have changed my body already and hopefully one day that "competition pic" will be my "skinny" pic...lol

"Turned 30?" What in the blue hell is that suppose to mean??? I'm damn near 50 and when my back finally heals up from surgery, I'm gonna give it another go. If I enter all the local shows at grand master level (50+), I'm quite sure I'll walk with 1st every time..lol!!

Seriously though, my motivation is the guy in the attachment. He's passed on now, but he was my mentor...one of the nicest men that ever lived. Right up to the end, he would say, "No matter what level a BB'er is, I can always learn from him." This pic is from the last show he did. He won Mr. Olympia in the 60+ division. The sanctioning outfit was some Natural BB'ing federation...I cannot remember the name of.

Let my friend Dominic be of some inspiration to you!! Good luck!

Thanks guys. I am starting to tupperware all my meals already. And starting to get back in the groove. I definitely agree the way you feel when you put in a day of eating write and working out you feel 100 times better than if you sit around eating pizza!! TenMan when I said turning 30 I meant the 30th birthday party that comes along with it (beer, food, etc) I am still a pup and have a lot to learn. Bodybuilding is somehting that you have to stay consistent with because once you start slipping (at least for me) it is like a free fall!! Time to man up and get rocking again. Thanks again.

I am getting there. One last hurdle and then back to the grind. Moving the wife back home and the puppies. A nice 1400+ mile drive!! Once I am back though for good there are no more excuses to not hit the gym hard again, and I have my chef back!! So much easier preparing food after working all day when you have someone who loves to cook at home.

Just wanted to let let the guys know who are interested where things are at. Back to the gym as should be. Bulked up quite a bit to a solid 323. I have gained fat but will be hitting early morning cardio and completely cleaning the diet up. Shooting to be on stage this coming fall. Most likely will come in at 265 or a little higher depending on what my coach thinks. Thanks again for all the support. I will post some pics once I start to lose the belly!!
